Before Santa settled on the corporate red suit, he went through a whole identity crisis of bishops' robes, woodland fur, and Victorian cloaks. The collectible "Santa Through the Years" series captures four decades of Father Christmas trying on different wardrobes, moving from stern medieval gift-bringer to the jolly fellow we know today.

Offered as a complete, matched four-piece boxed set produced by RSVP International in 1990, this collection includes:

- St. Nicholas (1880): Dressed in traditional bishop's robes and a red-and-gold mitre hat, carrying a golden crosier and a toy bag over his shoulder.
- Kris Kringle (1890): Styled in a deep burgundy robe trimmed with white fur, holding a wooden walking staff with a little doll tucked over his shoulder.
- The Victorian Santa (1900): Outfitted in a classic turn-of-the-century green and red hooded cloak, straight off an antique postcard.
- The Contemporary Santa (1920): Wearing the familiar fur-trimmed red suit and black boots, hauling a small evergreen tree and a sack of toys.

Each hand-painted bisque porcelain figurine stands on a dated base and comes with its original navy blue storage box, complete with historical lore printed on the back panel. Finding all four together with their original department store boxes still intact is a rare treat for holiday collectors.

Condition Transparency: Very good vintage condition. All four porcelain figurines are structurally sound, cleanly painted, and free of chips, cracks, or repairs. The original navy blue boxes show honest, expected edge, corner, and flap wear from decades of seasonal storage, including a small surface tear on the top flap edge of the 1890 box, but all four boxes remain sturdy, intact, and completely legible.

Care: Keep dry. Dust gently with a soft, dry artist brush. Store each figurine cushioned in tissue paper inside its original box between seasons.
