There is an unmistakable presence to Southwestern jewelry shaped entirely by hand at the bench. While mass-cast commercial pieces mimic the forms of the desert, genuine artisan silversmithing reveals itself in honest construction: hand-sheared sheet metal, visible silver solder seams, deliberate file marks, and individual letter stamps hammered into the band.

This handmade vintage Southwestern ring centers on a luminous oval mother-of-pearl cabochon. Displaying a soft milky-white field with pale celadon and silver iridescence, the shell catches natural light with an authentic growth swirl that shifts as the hand moves.

The stone rests in a hand-crimped sawtooth bezel atop a hand-cut backplate. Framing the central stone are four sculpted teardrop wire loops, positioned at each corner to give the face a stylized four-point blossom or bow silhouette. Deep charcoal oxidation settles into the recessed crevices, framing the bright polished silver wirework with dramatic, rustic depth.

The underside tells the story of authentic studio craftsmanship. The split shank is hand-cut and individually soldered to the mounting plate, showing honest jeweler file marks and solder seams along the inner joins. Inside the band, separate hand-struck letter punches record unread maker marks, reflecting the individual hand of an independent silversmith rather than a production mold.

Condition Transparency: Very good vintage artisan condition. The natural mother-of-pearl cabochon is securely gripped by the sawtooth bezel with no movement. The face of the shell shows fine, light surface scratches and gentle vintage scuffing visible under close inspection. The band displays authentic handcrafted characteristics, including visible solder joins where the split shank meets the backplate, jeweler file marks, light surface wear, and natural vintage patina. The inner band retains its original hand-punched maker initials. Sound, sturdy, and structurally solid.

Care: Wipe with a soft, untreated jewelry cloth. Avoid immersion in chemical silver dips, ultrasonic cleaners, and exposure to household detergents or perfumes to protect the natural shell.
