In 1985, navigating a boardroom or a high-stakes Sunday brunch required exactly two things: structured shoulder pads sharp enough to puncture drywall and a substantial multi-strand pearl choker with a clasp the size of a postage stamp.

During the height of the 1980s tailoring boom, high-end costume jewelers channeled legendary Parisian fashion houses by taking baroque pearls, scaling them up to dramatic proportions, and anchoring them with ornate statement clasps.

This unsigned double-strand statement piece captures that exact era of unapologetic glamour.

The Anatomy & Architecture
The necklace features two graduated strands of hand-knotted faux baroque pearls.

Unlike perfectly uniform plastic beads, these pearls boast an organic, dimpled, and irregular surface texture that catches the light with a soft, convincing creamy white luster.

They graduate smoothly from roughly 8 millimeters near the back to a substantial 11 to 12 millimeters across the front collar.

Every single pearl is individually hand-knotted on matching silk thread—a hallmark of quality vintage construction that prevents the beads from rubbing together or spilling across the floor if the strand ever gives way.

The anchor of the piece is its round gold-tone box clasp.
