Vintage Robinson Ransbottom Stoneware Crock RRP Co Roseville, Ohio, 6 In
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 362 | The Buckeye Countertop Sentry of 1956
In 1956, nobody in Ohio bought a six-inch stoneware crock to use as an aesthetic accent piece.
You bought it because the kitchen was a combat zone and you needed equipment that could survive.
Manufactured in Roseville, Ohio, by the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company, this straight-sided cylinder was engineered from dense river clay, dipped in thick off-white Bristol glaze, and fired to withstand generations of aggressive kitchen duty.
It was built to anchor heavy wooden spoons, catch hot cooking drippings, hold salt cellar reserves, or take a direct hit from a rogue cast iron pan without flinching.
Look at the honest posture of this piece. Standing six inches tall with straight cylindrical walls and a thick rolled collar rim, it is completely free of fussy decals or delicate frills. It projects pure Midwestern utility.
The unglazed base proudly bears the authentic factory oval ink stamp reading "R.R.P. Co. Roseville, O. U.S.A."
Over the past seven decades, the creamy glaze has developed a gorgeous, intricate web of fine vintage crazing that gives the glossy surface incredible depth and authentic farmhouse soul.
It also carries genuine factory quirks from the kiln, including a textured, bubbled glaze patch beneath the rim shoulder and a tiny glaze skip along the rim edge where the ceramicist lifted it before firing.
Whether styled on an open kitchen shelf, stationed next to the range holding your favorite cooking spatulas, or repurposed as an earthy planter cachepot for fresh kitchen herbs, this crock brings immediate history, texture, and rustic American character to your home.
Having survived over half a century of honest household use, it remains in very good vintage condition. The crock is solid and sound with no cracks, fractures, or chips along the rim. The glaze displays authentic fine age crazing throughout, faint tan vintage staining near the lower exterior base, and typical factory kiln speckling. The interior is clean and structurally solid, showing normal whitish glaze hazing, light vintage floor residue, and a pinpoint red speck from past pantry storage.
Style it on a butcher block counter with wooden spoons, use it as a rustic desk pencil caddy, or gift it to someone who loves authentic American utilitarian pottery.

A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
Vintage means used: Expect honest, authentic character that matches its age and previous love.
The Smell & Storage Factor: My workspace is pet-friendly and smoke-free. Buyers with extreme sensitivities should review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement.
