In classical Renaissance paintings, angels herald the season with gentle harps, soft choral whispers, and peaceful heavenly restraint.

These two, however, showed up ready to blow everyone out of the room.

Look at their commitment. Billowing robes flowing in the high-altitude slipstream, feathery wings fully extended for lift, and long heraldic trumpets pointed straight into the night sky. They were hired to announce the arrival of a 1988 holiday cocktail party that was scheduled for 7:00 PM, but because the hosts were still wrestling with a frozen shrimp ring in the kitchen, nobody showed up until 8:15.

Did these two put the brass down? Absolutely not. They stood on their celestial perches and blasted high notes into the cosmos without taking a single breath. The five frosted stars scattered across the basin are essentially an apology from the night sky for the sheer acoustic volume.

Produced during the height of the late 20th-century German art glass revival (circa 1980s to 1990s, in the tradition of Walther Glas and Mikasa), this matching pair of scalloped oval dishes brings glowing holiday elegance to your tabletop.

The glasswork uses two striking textures in contrast.

The background field is cast in heavy, sparkling "chipped ice" textured glass that catches light and scatters warm reflections across the table. Floating above that crystalline surface in raised sculptural relief is a trumpet-blowing angel in flight, her face, hair, billowing gown, trumpet, and five flanking stars finished in an ethereal satin-frosted matte treatment.

The outer edge is finished with a rhythmic, undulating scalloped rim that gives both dishes a soft, organic silhouette.
