Vintage Italian Majolica Double Handle Vase, Hand Painted Floral Ceramic Urn, Perugia Italy Pottery, Antique Home Decor
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 324 | The High-Society Pansy Diplomat
Around 1910 in the European spa town of Karlsbad, Bohemia, tableware was not permitted to be casual.
Even if you were merely gathering a few modest garden pansies from outside your country villa, they could not simply sit in an ordinary glass tumbler. They required high-level diplomatic presentation: sweeping architectural handles, regal apricot-orange shading, and enough Edwardian drama to survive the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Enter the High-Society Pansy Diplomat.
Crafted by the renowned Victoria porcelain factory (Schmidt & Co.) in Karlsbad, Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic), this miniature amphora-style vase is a masterclass in turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau elegance.
The glazed ivory cream porcelain body is airbrushed with warm apricot-orange shading across the shoulders, neck, and pedestal base. Flanking the neck are twin sculptural handles molded with ornate floral scrolls and dimensional berry clusters that frame the silhouette.
The centerpiece is a vibrant, romantic bouquet of purple, soft rose-pink, and sunny yellow pansies nestled in soft green foliage.
Flip it over, and you will find the red circular "Victoria Austria" backstamp, dating its creation squarely between 1904 and 1918.
Having lived through more than a century of domestic history, it displays honest, authentic antique character. Both ornate scroll handles remain solid, firmly attached, and free of breaks or restorations.
Consistent with genuine antique porcelain, there is a fine vertical hairline fissure descending from the top mouth rim into the neck collar. The interior displays dark water staining and mineral patina from decades of holding real garden clippings, and the underside shows heavy dark shelf wear, ground kiln grit, and rust-colored age marks on the foot ring.
Style it on an antique dressing table, nestle it between leather-bound hardcovers on a library bookshelf, or let it bring authentic Edwardian charm to a sunny cottage windowsill.

A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
Vintage means used: Expect honest, authentic character consistent with age and previous love.
The Smell & Storage Factor: My workspace is pet-friendly and smoke-free. Buyers with extreme sensitivities should review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement.
