Vintage Turned Wood Chamberstick Candle Holders Pair Colonial Maple 7 In
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 317 | The Nightshirt Navigator
Before modern electric lighting, venturing down a dark hallway in the middle of the night required serious commitment.
If you heard a floorboard creak downstairs, you could not simply tap your phone screen for an instant flashlight. You had to light a taper, hook your pointer finger through a wooden loop like Wee Willie Winkie, and wander into the darkness in a floor-length flannel nightshirt, hoping you did not trip over the family dog.
Turned from solid American hardwood during the height of the 1970s Colonial Revival boom, this matched pair of chambersticks was built for that exact late-night expedition.
Each candlestick features a gracefully turned baluster stem resting inside a wide, dished saucer base. That saucer was not just for show: in historical households, it served as a generous catch basin to ensure hot, dripping wax never ruined your hardwood floors or nightstand table runner.
Anchored to the saucer is a turned wooden finger ring, giving you complete one-handed control whether you are carrying it room to room or styling it permanently on a shelf.
The wood has aged into a rich, glowing honey-amber tone with a smooth satin sheen that highlights the natural grain. The sockets measure approximately 7/8 inch across, sized to cradle standard taper candles. Because the candle sockets are traditional unlined turned wood, they are especially suited for realistic battery-operated LED tapers, or real wax candles snuffed before they reach the socket rim.
Having survived fifty years of cozy household duty, they display honest, authentic vintage character. The woodwork is tight and solid throughout. There is a tiny fleabite compression on the outer lip of one cup, faint traces of vintage red wax near the rims from past holiday dinners, and remnants of an old paper retail sticker on one underside.
Flank a fireplace mantel with them, station them on a primitive bedside table, or style them along a Thanksgiving dining runner nestled into autumn leaves and dried gourds.

A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
Vintage means used: Expect honest, authentic character consistent with age and previous love.
The Smell & Storage Factor: My workspace is pet-friendly and smoke-free. Buyers with extreme sensitivities should review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement.
