Vintage 3D Ceramic Rabbit Family Plate Bunnykins Style Running Bunnies
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 311 | The Cottontail Supper
If human dinner tables operated with this level of decorum, parenting books would be completely obsolete.
Look at the posture in this dining room. Not a single tantrum. No elbows on the table. Just two well-behaved young leverets in powder-blue tunics sitting patiently while Papa Rabbit presides in his seated waistcoat, waiting for dinner to be served.
Through the cottage doorway comes Mother Rabbit, dressed in a traditional mob cap and crisp white apron, proudly balancing a massive golden root vegetable on a serving tray.
KEY DETAILS
Design & Inspiration: Hand-painted ceramic studio homage crafted in iconic bunnykins style
Central Motif: Sculpted rabbit family plate dining scene with dimensional relief
Border Details: 14 cottontails in full stride featured as running bunny art along rim
Form & Display: Collectible vintage 3d plate perfect as a decorative ceramic wall plate
Dimensions: Standard 8 5 in plate decor size (measures approx. 8.5 inches across)
Aesthetic: Whimsical storybook nursery accent, woodland nursery charm, and cottagecore decor
Seasonal Appeal: Delightful running bunny plate for spring and easter bunny decor
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with crisp relief and clean unglazed foot ring
Cast in tactile low relief, this vintage 1980s studio ceramic plate brings storybook illustration straight off the page and into three dimensions. The centerpiece is painted in classic storybook pastels: dusty rose curtains, soft sky blue, forest green, and rich chestnut brown on a warm cream ground.
The crowning glory is the border. Circling the rim are fourteen dimensional brown cottontail rabbits caught in mid-leap across painted grass tufts. It is an affectionate homage to the iconic running-rabbit motif made famous by Royal Doulton's Bunnykins line, reinterpreted here as a charming piece of late-century American studio pottery.
Flip the plate over, and you can see the three distinct stilt marks inside the unglazed foot ring where it rested in the kiln during its final glaze firing. It has survived the decades in wonderful display condition, completely free of chips, cracks, or crazing.
Because this is a vintage studio piece with an unknown historical glaze formula, it is meant strictly for decorative display rather than food service. Prop it on an easel in a woodland nursery, tuck it onto an open plate rack in an English country kitchen, or style it as a sweet focal point for spring and Easter decorating.
STYLING & DISPLAY
Woodland Nursery Bookshelf: Rest on a small brass or wood plate stand alongside vintage children's books and wooden toys.
English Cottage Plate Rack: Layer onto an open kitchen hutch among cream stoneware and vintage teacups.
Spring & Easter Vignette: Display on a mantel flanked by fresh greenery, botanical prints, and woven baskets.
SPECIFICATIONS & CONDITION
Dimensions: 8 1/2 inches diameter by approximately 3/4 inch depth.
Materials: Kiln-fired glazed ceramic earthenware.
Weight: Sturdy ceramic plate weight (approx. 1 lb unboxed).
Usage Notice: Decorative display piece only (not tested for modern food safety or microwave use).
Condition Notes: Excellent vintage condition. Structurally sound with no chips, cracks, hairline fractures, or post-firing repairs. The raised relief molding is crisp and well-defined. A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
