Most everyday centerpiece bowls are perfectly content sitting quietly on a sideboard holding three dusty pinecones or a rogue set of car keys. Not this one. This bowl demands an opera cape, a velvet runner, and a spotlight.
At first glance, it looks like a stained glass cathedral window collapsed into an ornate floral dish. Look closer and you realize it is an absolute construction flex: an earthy, matte biscuit-ceramic composite base topped with an intricate labyrinth of raised gold-tone filigree wires. Each individual petal cell is filled with a thick pour of translucent, liquid-gloss ruby red enamel that catches the light like fresh pomegranate syrup.
It has substantial, grounded heft in the hands. It feels like the kind of decorative relic that could easily survive an earthquake or a particularly heated Thanksgiving dinner argument.
Having lived a glamorous social life, it shows honest cosmetic character under bright light. You will find a few pinhead-sized pale specks near the central rosette where tiny air bubbles settled during firing, along with faint surface swirling on the glossy red glaze.
