Vintage Westmoreland Style Milk Glass Paneled Grape Pedestal Vase White
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 289 | The Grape Gatsby
Picture suburban America in 1962. Bridge clubs met every Thursday, meatloaf was considered haute cuisine, and every respectable dining room sideboard was legally required to feature heavy white milk glass shaped like an entire Roman vineyard.
Enter the paneled grape pedestal vase.
It looks like the kind of chalice an ancient emperor would use to sip wine, assuming that emperor retired to a split-level ranch in Ohio.
Standing roughly 9.5 inches tall, this heavy, opaque white milk glass vase features tapered paneled sides smothered in raised relief grape clusters and leafy vines, all rising up to a flared trumpet mouth. Whether you load it up with fresh garden lilacs, dried eucalyptus, or leave it empty to catch the morning light, it delivers peak mid-century cottagecore drama.
Now, let us discuss its vintage battle scar. Running across the round pedestal foot is a distinct diagonal line (visible in our close-up photos). Did it survive a rambunctious toast at a 1974 anniversary party? Did someone slam it down during a cutthroat game of Scrabble? We cannot prove anything, but the vase sits flat, remains sturdy for display, and wears its history honestly.
The underside also sports a charmingly cut-off purple ink stamp showing a tiny teacup and the letters "Vas / Gla," proving that wherever it lived, someone cataloged it like fine art.
The Vintage Pedigree & Artistry
Style & Pattern: Classic Westmoreland Paneled Grape style pedestal flower vase.
Era: Circa 1950s to 1970s Mid-Century American Glassware.
Material: Heavy opaque white milk glass.
Molded Details: High-relief grape clusters, textured grape leaves, trailing vines, and flared paneled body.
Markings: Partial vintage purple ink stamp on underside featuring a teacup motif.
📺 Styling & Display Ideas
Cottagecore Mantel Vignette: Pair with brass candlesticks and stacks of linen-bound books for an airy, timeless look.
Kitchen Island Floral Anchor: The heavy round foot and flared mouth make it a stable vessel for tall dried florals or faux greenery.
Vintage Milk Glass Collection: Blends seamlessly into an established grouping of Fenton, Westmoreland, or McKee white glass.
🔍 Specifications, Materials & Condition
Dimensions: ~9.25" to 9.5" Total Height x ~4" Pedestal Base Diameter x ~4" to 4.5" Flared Rim Mouth.
Materials: Opaque White Molded Milk Glass.
Condition: Good vintage display condition. The molded relief grapes and paneled glass are crisp and glossy. Important Condition Note: There is a prominent diagonal line across the round pedestal foot near the stem. It displays well and sits flat, but this line should be treated as a visible stress fracture. There are also minor tan/brown age spots and faint staining nestled around the raised vines and lower body, consistent with decades of shelf life.
A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
Vintage means used: Expect honest, authentic character consistent with age and previous love.
The Smell & Storage Factor: My workspace is pet-friendly and smoke-free. Buyers with extreme sensitivities should review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement.
