Vintage Delft Blue Bols Liquor Bottle Decanter Windmill Pitcher Vase
✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 280
Vintage Mid-Century Dutch Lucas Bols "Delft Blue" Ceramic Decanter & Vase
Picture Holland in 1972. A gentleman named Henk attends a local festival, consumes an entire jug of 80-proof Bols genever gin, and promptly drops the cork into a canal.
Instead of throwing the empty ceramic bottle away like a rational human being, Henk looks at the hand-painted windmill on the front, wipes his brow, and thinks, "No. This is high art now. We are putting flowers in it."
Fast forward fifty years, and Henk's drunk vision has been fully realized.
Originally manufactured in the Netherlands as a luxury presentation decanter for Lucas Bols (the world's oldest spirit brand), this heavy stoneware jug has officially retired from housing Dutch liquor and entered its grandmillennial cottagecore era.
It stands 11.5 inches tall with a sturdy side handle and a creamy glazed finish. The front features a sweeping, hand-painted cobalt blue scene of a classic Dutch windmill by a river, while the back sports a dramatic bouquet of stylized tulips just in case you get bored of looking at windmills.
The original cork stopper is long gone, which is an absolute win for you because it means this piece now functions perfectly as a tall, un-tippable vase for fresh eucalyptus, dried lavender, or whatever floral arrangement you bought at Trader Joe's to convince guests you have your life together.
The underside features the official crown mark reading "Delft Blue / Made in Holland / Handwerk" alongside handwritten painter production codes.

A Note About Vintage Items & Their Little Crimes
Many of the treasures at Honeyblue Hollow come from estate sales, flea markets, and consignment shops where interesting things wait to begin their next chapter. Because they existed long before they found me, their pasts are checkered.
Vintage means used: Expect honest, authentic character consistent with age and previous love.
The Smell & Storage Factor: My workspace is pet-friendly and smoke-free. Buyers with extreme sensitivities should review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement.
