Some pottery quietly complements a room. This Italian basket arrives wearing yellow, orders wine, and asks why everyone else is dressed so plainly.
Hand-marked “2322 PERUGIA ITALY” on its unglazed foot rim, this cheerful ceramic beauty serves up buttercup-yellow glaze, sculptural flowers, and two twisted handles that look suspiciously like fancy bakery pretzels. Please admire them responsibly.
A burgundy-striped, braided rim frames molded blooms painted in ochre, forest green, and wine red. There is texture. There is color. There was clearly no meeting about toning things down.
Fill it with dried lavender, give your entryway keys a wildly extravagant home, or let it sit empty and be fabulous. It does not need a job to justify being here.
Its vintage character includes scattered interior marks, fine surface crazing, and subtle darkening and wear around the rim and handles. A little evidence of a life lived—with this wardrobe, probably a very good one.
