✨ Cabinet Curiosity No. 139
The Empress Table

Before modern cookware took over, early 20th-century American Sunday dinners were anchored by heavy, gilded semi-porcelain serving pieces like this.

Produced by the Homer Laughlin China Company between 1918 and 1937, this oval covered casserole is crafted in the graceful "Empress" shape (stamped "Genesee" on the base). It features treatment pattern G4205, known to collectors as "Rose & Lattice"—a delicate garland of pink roses, blue forget-me-nots, and a black-and-gold geometric border.

Measuring 11.5 inches from handle to handle, it retains its original lid and treatment stamp inside the rim.

This piece wears its century of history plainly: fine glaze crazing throughout, vintage tea staining in the crevices, and honest rubbing along the gold rim bands. It is a genuine antique survivor that brings instant warmth and authenticity to an open kitchen hutch, sideboard, or vintage china collection.

Add authentic early 20th-century American china history to your collection with this Homer Laughlin Empress covered casserole bowl. Features the Rose & Lattice pattern G4205 with gold accents and official company backstamps.

Please review all detailed close-up photographs for full cosmetic details.

A Note on Vintage Character:
Like many authentic vintage items, this piece arrived with a faint hint of its previous life in storage. It has been carefully cleaned and freshened to the point where I no longer detect it. Because scent perception varies, buyers with extreme sensitivities may choose to give it a light wipe upon arrival. I clean and air out items whenever safely possible, but original environments are unknown. Please review the full Vintage Items & Allergens note in my Shop Announcement for more details.
